Hello.... this is lulu of magic mirrors. i am not doing much right now. just scanning some cassette j-cards to put on rateyourmusic so the mods don't kill me for sourcing discogs. if you know, you know. i was going to use this blog to post about shows i go to and the knoxville music scene, but i have not gone to any local shows in a while and i don't have any planned either. oh well. i will probably do a big ears recap once that happens because i am planning on going to see many artists there. here is my schedule for big ears, maybe we'll see each other there!

obviously my schedule isn't full yet, so let me know of any bands you recommend seeing to fill in the gaps. aside from big ears, i am also going to see weatherday and some more emo bands in new york city on march 20, ben kweller in atlanta on april 15, and rilo kiley with my dear friend Nick in atlanta on september 26. that last one is very far away but i am so excited for it! seeing a band that hasn't played a show since before i was born is definitely going to be a memorable experience. also, i'm going on the last night of their east coast tour so maybe it will be special in some way. get excited for this summer, an awesome band called "static wave pattern divergence method handling and survey student orchestra for the eremetics inclined" (or just static, if you're boring), brought to you by the producers of ghost blanket. i will be playing guitar and/or bowed guitar. it's the same thing but with a bow. and i've never played it like that but it will be awesome. we (oliver, will, ren, me, elliot, hegry, kevin, & mason) will be wearing costumes and playing unconventional instruments on the big stages. oliver's terrific ideas. maybe we'll even tour. oliver sent me a version of a song he wrote for static, called "the train is coming" and let's just say. you're not ready. it's really good and he likes to whine about how "the mix is bad" (he's lying, but i guess if it could get better it may as well be the best song ever). i have concepts of a plan for magic mirrors 6. and also a collaborative effort with saoirse from two headed dog may be in the future. that could be number 6. we'll see how it plays out.
big life update also: i have a flip phone now. if you contact me via instagram, i will probably respond about a week later because i don't really use it often anymore, and when i do it's on desktop. not convenient for sending and receiving messages. instead, email me at
magicmirrors253@gmail.com (zine/cd related affairs) or
iloveyouverymuchforever@gmail.com (personal messaging). i just spent my first week in about 6 years without using a smartphone, i feel partially healed. more calm.
